Globally, access to health care is unequally distributed. Despite the United Nations’ leadership maintaining world peace, enhancing socio-economic development, fighting for human rights, and implementing worldwide eradication plans for diseases such smallpox and polio, sustainable global health remains a work in progress. It is a sad reality that a child born today can expect to live less than 50 years in some parts of the world, while in others, average life expectancy is more than 80 years.1 Although the causes of health inequities are many, potential solutions such as positive cultural shifts, balanced socio-economic environment, infrastructure growth, increased public awareness, responsible governance, etc. also exist. One critical solution may be efficient and streamlined product development and manufacturing of high-quality medicines.
