Siddhartha Mukherjee is a pioneering physician, oncologist, and author who has redefined our public discourse on human health, medicine, and science. A profoundly influential voice in the scientific community, he is best known for his books, The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer, which earned him the 2011 Pulitzer Prize, and The Gene: An Intimate History which won international awards and was recognized by The Washington Post and The New York Times as one of the most influential books of 2016.

Mukherjee’s achievements as a writer and educator build upon his career as a renowned medical scholar. His groundbreaking studies into the composition and behavior of cancer cells have pushed the boundaries of modern medicine. His innovative research signals a paradigm shift in cancer pathology and has enabled the development of treatments that reach beyond current pharmaceutical models toward new biological and cellular therapies.

Kathrin Jansen, Ph.D.

Kathrin U. Jansen, Ph.D., is the Senior Vice President and Head of Vaccine Research and Development (VRD) at Pfizer Inc, and a member of Pfizer’s Worldwide Research, Development and Medical leadership team. With over 28 years of pharmaceutical experience in vaccine R&D. Jansen leads a fully integrated, global vaccines research and development organization, with responsibilities ranging from discovery to registration and post-marketing commitments. She manages a clinical vaccines portfolio that includes vaccines to prevent or treat diseases of significant unmet medical need such as those caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Clostridioides difficile, respiratory syncytial virus, Group B Streptococcus, and Lyme disease. In collaboration with BioNTech, Dr. Jansen led the development of the BNT162b2 vaccine candidate against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). The vaccine was issued the first emergency use authorization (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration—less than 11 months after the he SARS-CoV-2 genetic sequence was released and the first-ever authorized vaccine utilizing an mRNA platform.

How to Attend a PharmSci 360 Poster Presentation Online or In-Person

Authors will present hundreds of posters at PharmSci 360, covering topics from 3D printing, to immunotherapy, to oglionucleotides and nitrosamines, and everything in between. Browsing the research and chatting with authors is a highlight of the meeting for many attendees.

Whether you attend PharmSci 360 virtually or in-person, you will have the opportunity to connect with poster authors to discuss their work and find potential partners and collaborators. Here is how it will work:

Posters will be made available to registrants at the start of the meeting on Monday, October 18. Virtual registrants will be able to view them through the PharmSci 360 meeting site, while attendees in Philadelphia will have access through any digital terminal in the Solutions Center.

Attend an In-person Poster Presentation

In-person poster presentations will be made at scheduled times throughout the meeting in the poster forums located in the Solution Center. Each poster forum has 5-6 digital monitors. Each monitor is scheduled to display a specific poster at a specific time so that the author may present it. To determine when a poster will be presented, find it on the meeting website and then look closely at its poster number. The poster number identifies the day, time, forum, and monitor number for the presentation.

Attend a Virtual Poster Presentation

Each author who will not attend the meeting in person will be scheduled for a live, virtual poster session. Each will be assigned an individual, virtual room in which to present their poster to visitors. They will be able to video-chat with attendees who can view their poster while they speak.

Virtual posters will be presented in one-hour sessions:

Monday, October 18 from 12:30 pm-1:30 pm ET
Tuesday, October 19 from 12:30 pm-1:30 pm ET
Wednesday, October 20 from 12:30 pm-1:30 pm ET

Again, the poster number has all the information you need to attend that session: day, session, and a “V” indicating that this poster will be presented virtually.

How to Read Your Poster Number
Day = M (Monday), T (Tuesday), W (Wednesday)
Number Series = 2000, 3000, or 4000
V = Virtual Presentation

For example, if the poster number is M2111V, you can see that this poster will be displayed Monday, at 12:30 pm ET, in the virtual platform.

Additionally, outside of scheduled presentation times, attendees—both in-person and virtual—will be able to use Connect 360, AAPS’ online networking platform, to contact authors, speakers, and other attendees, and then schedule meetings to video chat at their convenience.
