Highlighting AAPS Core Values
By Andrew M. Vick, Ph.D., AAPS President
At the start of this year, AAPS’ 2021-2026 Strategic Plan began. There are quite a few facets to this plan, but this month I want to highlight a bit more about the core values we are focusing on. These core values are learning, innovation, service, inclusiveness, and integrity.
Each of these values is woven into the decision-making processes, planning, and opportunities offered at AAPS. After all, what is learning without inclusiveness or integrity? Service to others in our work and communities is an outcome from empowering scientists’ innovative spirits. And in every way, these values are integrated into membership at AAPS.
In May there are many opportunities to get involved and learn. Here are a few I’d like to bring to your attention:
Webinars
Ask The Experts: Clinical and Nonclinical Evaluation of QT/QTc Interval Prolongation and Proarrhythmic Potential, May 4
eChalk Talk - Confidently Detect and Quantify Trace Nitrosamine (NDMA) Impurities in Drug Products, May 11
eChalk Talk: Routine Accurate Mass Detection for Forced Degradation Studies, May 12
Conferences
National Biotechnology Conference (NBC), May 17-20
If you are looking for motivation and connection, this has resources for you. During the pandemic, podcasts have grown in popularity. If this is something you enjoy, be sure to listen to AAPS leaders who have been featured on The Power of Story and Science podcast, a program featuring scientist perspectives and commentary on a variety of topics. Former AAPS Fellow and current AAPS PharmSciTech Editor-in-Chief, Bill Williams, Ph.D., shares his insight about surprises in scientific writing. And in another recent episode, AAPS leader Stacey Tannenbaum, Ph.D., discusses living as your authentic self as a scientist.
When we take the time to expand our understanding and knowledge, we can move forward as better scientists who can innovate and go on to serve others. Let’s stay committed to thriving in our areas of work and research. At AAPS we are giving you the tools and support you need most to keep the momentum going.
With gratitude,
Andy
