Copyright, Permissions, Copies, and Reprints

These policies apply to each article published in AAPS Newsmagazine unless otherwise noted within the article. Questions can be directed to AAPS Content Manager Kristen Kalmann.

Copyright

The article author(s) transfers copyright to the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) unless the article is open access. In AAPS’ transfer of copyright, the author retains the following rights:

The author(s), however, reserve the following rights: (a) All proprietary rights other than copyrights, such as patent rights, (b) The right to use all or part of this article, including tables and figures in future works of their own, provided that proper acknowledgment is made to the Publisher as copyright holder, and (c) The right to make copies of this article for his/her own use, but not for sale.

Permissions

Unless otherwise noted in the content, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) holds copyright for all content within AAPS Newsmagazine.

Examples of when AAPS does NOT hold copyright:

  • Pharmaceutical Science Update articles are reprinted with permission from Bloomberg Industry News.
  • Open access cover articles are covered by the Creative Commons license CC BY-ND 4.0.

All uses of AAPS Newsmagazine content must include a citation to AAPS as the original publisher.

Obtaining a Copy

Copies of AAPS Newsmagazine articles are granted on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to obtain a copy of an article, please email AAPS Content Manager Kristen Kalmann with the following information:

  1. Requestor’s name, affiliation, and email address
  2. Purpose of copy, e.g., for academic research, for a patent application, for distribution to your company
  3. Number of people who will view the copy

Reprinting and Republishing

Authors and authors’ companies may request reprints or to republish articles from AAPS Newsmagazine.

Open Access

The author or author’s company may choose for their cover article to be open access upon publication. As an open access article, the author(s) will retain copyright. The article is published under Creative Commons license CC BY-ND 4.0.

Embargo

If the AAPS Newsmagazine content is not open access, then it is embargoed for two months during which time no reprints or republications are allowed. From the third month onward, article reprinting/republishing can be purchased.
