We are pleased to introduce the Early Career Bioanalytical Scientists (ECBS) sub-team, a new team within AAPS with representation from Bioanalytical (BA), Biomarker and Precision Medicine (BPM), and Therapeutic Product Immunogenicity (TPI) communities. The ECBS aims to facilitate the scientific and professional growth of its members by engaging and connecting early-career scientists, identifying their needs, and addressing these through suitable training and ad-hoc mentoring.
This sub-team was sponsored by Faye Vazvaei, Ph.D., with support from the BA, BPM, and TPI communities to enhance the engagement of this demographic within AAPS. Three co-leads, Paddy Eangoor, Ph.D., Michelle Robinson, Ph.D., and Yi Wen, Ph.D., were selected to represent the ECBS sub-team in the BA, BPM, and TPI communities respectively. The chairs and past chairs of these three communities, Wenkui Li and Shalini Gupta from BA, Jianing Zeng and Carmen Fernandes-Metzler from BPM, and Vibha Jawa and Johanna Mora from TPI, will serve as mentors for the first team of ECBS leaders.
Currently, the ECBS is comprised of a diverse group of scientists from multiple companies with varying technical interests that broadly align with the BA, BPM, and TPI communities. We strive to reflect the diversity of the drug discovery and development landscape covering both traditional and novel modalities and capturing an array of established and emerging scientific topics, and we look forward to expanding this scope further as more members are added.
Presently, the team is working to finalize the charter and goals with input from the flagship group of early-career scientists and mentors. Of primary interest to this group thus far is understanding the drug development process, navigating career transitions, networking with peers from other companies, and learning to apply the unique skills and perspectives of early-career scientists to serve the pharmaceutical community. These topics and more will be explored by leveraging AAPSs common platforms such as open scientific discussions (OSD), webinars, ask the experts sessions, annual meeting programs, etc.
We invite the early-career bioanalytical scientists at AAPS who can benefit from these activities to join this sub-team. We also welcome scientists in other fields who are interested in bioanalysis. Contributions or suggestions for ECBS programming from the veteran industry scientists of AAPS are also welcome.
