AAPS actively works to increase awareness and understanding of the role and positive societal impact of pharmaceutical science and scientists. One way we work to achieve this goal is via proactive media relations—making AAPS experts available to the media to provide their scientific knowledge.
In June 2018, AAPS secured two experts—Catherine Sherwin, Ph.D., and Marilyn Morris, Ph.D.—for an article in Reader’s Digest on contraindications to ibuprofen use, which reached approximately 3 million people. AAPS also paired Nichaolas Tatonetti, Ph.D., from Columbia University, with an FDA Week reporter for his response to the New England Journal of Medicine article Clinical Trial Participants’ Views of the Risks and Benefits of Data Sharing.
