HIV/AIDS: 40 Years of Research

Monumental Moments in HIV/AIDS alongside a sampling of scientific contributions by AAPS members

Next year, 2021, will mark the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control’s first reports about the occurrence of the disease now known as AIDS. ¹,²  The AIDS pandemic thus far has affected over 75 million adults, adolescents and children and claimed the lives of over 32 million people worldwide. The countries that have been the most severely affected by the AIDS pandemic are in sub-Saharan Africa.
