Yvonne Perrie named new editor of the AAPS Advances in the Pharmaceutical Sciences book series
In November 2017, Yvonne Perrie, Ph.D., joined the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) publications team as editor of the book series AAPS Advances in the Pharmaceutical Sciences. She succeeds Daan Crommelin, who retired from the position at the end of 2017, and will work alongside current coeditor Robert Lipper, Ph.D.
“I am very excited to be taking over in this role from Daan Crommelin,” shared Perrie. “Daan and the team have built a key influential book series for those of us working in the field of pharmaceutical sciences, and I am looking forward to continuing to build our series.”
Perrie is a professor in drug delivery within the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. Her research is multidisciplinary and focuses on the development of drug delivery systems to facilitate the delivery of drugs and vaccines, thus providing practical solutions for current health care problems. Perrie received her doctorate from the University of London investigating the role of liposomes for drug delivery.
Perrie is an internationally recognized researcher, having produced 120 peer-reviewed papers, 5 textbooks, and 5 patents. She has been the editor of the Controlled Release Society Newsletter since 2004, and is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Liposome Research and Pharmaceutics.
“Working together with Springer, we will continue to deliver products that meet the needs of today’s researchers, authors, and wider consumers. This will include exploring format options and access opportunities to our content thus ensuring access, discoverability, and enhancement of content and providing an overall value-add.”
The AAPS Advances in the Pharmaceutical Sciences book series, in partnership with Springer, has published 26 books since it began in 2011, with another dozen in the pipeline. The series is designed to deliver volumes authored by opinion leaders and authorities from around the globe, addressing innovations in drug research and development and best practice for scientists and industry professionals in the pharma and biotech industries.
Springer and AAPS also publish the new AAPS Introductions in the Pharmaceutical Sciences book series, edited by Robin Zavod, Ph.D. The first books in this series are expected to publish in 2018.
