When given the chance, Carissa Jones rose to the challenge.
Carissa Jones grew up in a small town. There, she always felt limited and that she could accomplish only so much in life. However, this didn’t match her desire to crash through the glass ceiling and do whatever she wanted after college. She loved science, so she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. “Because I was self-pay through college, I had to get a job right away. There wasn’t a lot of opportunity for women in science, and especially having only a bachelor’s degree,” Jones says. As a result, she took a job in the food industry, which was male dominated. She worked as a broker and represented the different product lines.
