2019 AAPS PharmSci 360
The Bioanalytics Track Themes Announced for 2019 AAPS PharmSci 360!
AAPS PharmSci 360 combines all the energy and resources of a large scientific conference with the content depth of a small bioanalytical gathering.
All of the scientific programming is themed—so jump into the track of your expertise and dive deep into your field’s hottest topics with your peers. Here are the themes for the bioanalytics track:
THEME 1
Innovative Bioanalytical Solutions and Future of Bioanalysis
The challenges facing bioanalytical scientists require solutions using new ways of thinking and application. Many exciting trends are emerging in bioanalysis. This theme will allow members to share and learn about new developments in sample collections, assay strategies, and technologies. New modalities, such as gene and cell therapies, and demand for high-sensitivity assays will require adoption of new and evolving bioanalytical technologies. Patient-centric bioanalysis involves lower sample volume and remote sample collection/analysis.
THEME 2
Advances in Precision/Personalized Medicine and Biomarkers
To maximize therapeutic benefit for individual patients, precision/personalized medicine aims to target the right drug at the right dose for the right patient. This theme will focus on strategies for biomarker method development and validation from discovery to companion diagnostics. The breadth of bioanalytical approaches include, but are not limited to, conventional ligand-binding assay and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry methods, imaging, flow cytometry, and omics methodologies. Novel strategies such as digital biomarkers and real-world outcomes introduce challenges to ensure consistency outside a central testing facility.
THEME 3
Dialogue on Emerging Regulatory Guidelines and Experiences
Bioanalytical (BA) scientists, including health authorities, share a common goal to ensure that the BA strategies and assays are suitable for efficacy and safety assessment of therapeutics. Regulatory agencies continue to update guidelines that encompass bioanalytics, metabolites, immunogenicity, and biomarkers and span topics from assay validation to data interpretation and risk assessment. As BA learning evolves, alternative scientific approaches may be applied with appropriate justification.

Posters at AAPS PharmSci 360
More than 1,700 posters will be displayed at the meeting in San Antonio. Make sure yours is one of them!
Abstract Submission Deadline: May 15, 2019, 5 pm ET
A GOOD POSTER MUST:
- Be written with the audience in mind—As you design your poster, provide enough background on both the topic and the methods to convey the purpose, findings, and implications of your research to the expected range of readers/audience.
- Tell a simple, clear story—Providing a clear take-home message that can be grasped in a few minutes is key!
- Explain statistical methods and results—Present statistical significance that keeps the focus on the results, not on the arithmetic needed to conduct inferential statistical tests.
- Use graphs and charts—Let your figures do the talking! Reduce the need for long text descriptions or complex tables with tiny numbers that are cumbersome to read.
- Have a short, specific title—This is the first glimpse of your poster, so make a good impression. Make it inviting and easy to read from a distance.
- Be ready with your story—Keep it short! Prepare a few sentences that highlight what you are studying, present a couple of key findings, and explain why they are important for your initial pitch to attendees to capture their attention.

2019 Land O’Lakes Conferences
AAPS Partners on Leading Bioanalytical Meeting
20th Annual Bioanalytical Conference
July 15 – 19, 2019
The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research encourages collaborative efforts and data sharing among biomarker developers and users.
AAPS and the Division of Pharmacy Professional Development at the University of Washington–Madison are partnering to present the 20th Annual Land O’Lakes Bioanalytical Conference on July 15 through July 18, 2019, in Madison, Wisc. This year, the conference’s theme is Innovation in Bioanalytical Research for Translational Medicine: New Modalities, New Technologies, and Evolving Regulations.
AAPS members serving on the planning committees for both this conference and AAPS PharmSci 360 (November 3–6, San Antonio) are coordinating the programming of the two events to ensure that scientists can thoroughly explore biomarker development, use, and regulation.
The Land O’Lakes Conference Series is recognized worldwide as one of the premier teaching conferences for pharmaceutical scientists.
The 20th Annual Bioanalytical Conference is a three-day conference to discuss issues, innovations, and applications associated with the analysis of xenobiotics, metabolites, biologics, and biomarkers in biological matrices. It aims to facilitate an open exchange of scientific and methodological applications for bioanalysis and provide a forum for interaction with regulators from multiple agencies. The program is an interactive mixture of lectures, panel discussions, and a poster session.
Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to connect with experts and be a part of emerging biomarker trends.
