Starting in April, AAPS’ publishing partner, Springer Nature, began offering a 15% discount on author services for AAPS members. Author services include English language editing, scientific editing, manuscript preparation, translation, and illustration help.
English language editing services use native English editors with a research or clinical background in your subject area. These editors help with word choice and grammar to meet Springer Nature’s standards for publication. All editors undergo substantial editorial training, and they are reviewed to ensure quality.
Scientific editing services provide a Ph.D. editor in your field to examine all aspects of your scientific document. They will provide you with a detailed report that includes publishing advice and recommendations for where you should submit your article.
Most journals have different requirements for submission—the AAPS journals, for instance, each have a different set of Instructions for Authors that include things like the minimum and maximum number of references and whether the journal accepts written or graphical abstracts. Springer Nature author services can help you prepare your manuscript for submission. For AAPS journals, articles that are correctly formatted will receive a first decision more quickly than articles that are incorrectly formatted, and the editors-in-chief take note when authors follow the submission instructions.
If you know someone who speaks or writes very little English, Springer Nature, through their partnership with AJE Language Editing Services, can translate your manuscript into English from Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, or simplified Chinese.
Your figures are likely to be the first element of the submission that the editor-in-chief reviews. Ensure that your figures show qualified data in a clear, accurate, and aesthetically pleasing way. Figure and illustration formatting will help you conform to the journal’s guidelines.
